Question by NCAAF Fan: With Texas fans asking for an astrix beside the loss to Alabama in the BCS game?
With Texas fans asking for an Astrix beside the loss to Alabama in the BCS game because of the loss of a starting QB shouldn’t their be an astrix beside the Texas even making it to the game?
Reasons for this:
Texas got lucky when it was losing to Oklahoma when Sam Bradford was injured and Texas went on to win that game by only 3 points. (You can’t honestly say that Bradford wouldn’t have made up a 3 point difference if you are arguing that McCoy would have made up 16)
Texas needed a somewhat controversial call after players were already celebrating on the field to get a second chance to win the Big 12 Championship game in what may be the worst year the Big 12 had in a decade performance wise.
Lets face it the selection of Texas even being in the game was because the school was from an historically better conference. TCU had beat more ranked teams, Cincinnati had maybe the best 1/2 QB punch in the nation (the loss of a head coach could be argued as being as bad as losing a key player) and lets not forget the no love Boise State Broncos who have done nothing but win this decade but get punished because no BCS conference will accept them as a member.
LONG STORY SHORT, do you think that Texas fans need to stop proclaiming the what if statements when they themselves had a few real lucky breaks to have made it that far?
Arizona Buck- Sports Illustrated, Yahoo sports, CBS Sports, Fox Sports. Essentially all the major sports broacasting outlets have addressed the issue in some way or another. The biggest story of the BCS game was the loss of McCoy, do you even watch NCAA Football?

Texans are always saying how TOUGH colt is. he’s NOT tough, he’s kinda smallish. almost girlish. BUT he’s gutty! He’s got grit!
but i watched that opps Defense on film, i thought Dxxx they’re good, big, fast, LOL
i told my son, Colt might get hurt in this game. so i guess, its MY fault

Football includes injuries as part of the game. Mack Brown should have had his backup more prepared for the game. I hate that Alabama won because I am an Auburn fan but fair is fair and if a player is hurt that’s just part of the game.
Texas deserved to go to the game more the previous season in my opinion anyway.
Wow, you really cant drop it. Us texas fans Know for a fact Texas wins if McCoy doesnt get hurt, no need for an asterik, Texas was the best team, Bama was the National Champion. And TCU kinda sucked in their bowl, and couldnt hold Gilbert’s jock strap, same with Tony Pike and Cinnci doing nothing. Oh and Boise state, they beat an Overated TCU team, wow big deal. About the Bradford thing, I kinda agree, but Landry Jones had started 3 games by then, so its not the same thing. If Gilbert had started or played more significant snaps, the national title wouldve been a different story with him. And the Nebraska thing, the right call was made… Why get so upset about that?? Nebraska’s D was much better suited for Texas than Bama. If Colt Plays the game is 14-0, before bama gets their second drive, atleast 10-0, Whatever. Lets just worry about march madness now, then the road to Omaha, talk to me in 7 months or so
Please stop trying to take credit away from the back-up quarterback, he did just as good a job as any first-string quarterback could have done. Hey I thought what if Charles Scott would have not gotten his shoulder separated when late in that game LSU had the lead he had just scampered for 32 yards. Plain and simple defense was the name of the game this year McCoy would not have made any difference. You saw Penn St.’s defense come up with a late stop on LSU, LSU lost. I don’t think the penalty cost LSU the game remember crap happens, if you are winning the game with about 2 minutes to go it’s hard to come back and win that game. So Texas played a relentless defense that will pound you. And when Colt was in the red zone Alabama made Texas go for the Field Goal also!

You know none of the Texas fans (like myself) are even complaining about this game anymore. It happened 16 days ago. But we know that we would’ve won with Colt McCoy. We don’t want an asterisk but we would take a redo of that game with Colt McCoy full healed.
Texas fans are the worst losers I’ve ever seen !! They had a wimpy QB that couldn’t handle a hit and a piss poor defense that was supposed to stop Ingram. All the crybabies deserve is the” L ” that they earned !!
“What if” and “would have” mean absolutely nothing.
You could use one or both of those phrases for every team that ever lost a football game.
Texas played a good game. Alabama played a better game.
