take them to a NO KILL shelter. please dont ever just drop your pets of in some random neiborhood, and please dont bring them to a kill shelter. and always spay or neuter your pets. =)

I would trap / spay/ neuter/ return. (this way they will no longer breed)
Allow them to live under you porch. They catch mice and other things.
You can get help trapping them and paying for the spay/neuter by some agencies.
I feel sorry for all the stray cat that get thown out and have no home at least your kitties have a home (of sorts)
Check to see if there are any other shelters/rescue organizations in your area. The Humane Society is great (I adopted a kitten from them) but they usually require a donation to take in strays.
I got my other kitten from a private shelter non-profit organization, and I know PetSmart & Petco chains have rescue shelters too. If you can’t find anything in the Yellow Pages or online, call your local vets and they may have recommendations
You have a common problem. Pay the $ 40 with the understanding that they’ll be: 1) caught and 2) taken away for that price. Lesson: Don’t feed a stray unless you really want it to to be yours.
Check to see if the local pound has a feral cat program.
This program will take in all stray cats and make sure they have their shots and are healthy. They will be neutered and then released in back in to the general area to keep the mice and rat population in check.
The Bay Area has one and it works really well.
My daughter worked at a motel off the freeway, near a field, after the cats were picked up the mice population increased but once they were returned they haven’t seen a mouse since!
I’d pay the $ 40, *cat owner lol* you might actually want to keep one, just make sure they have all of their shots, and they don’t have FIV, or any other kinds of diseases.
I”m actually glad you took the time to do something about it, very few people do.
try calling friends of animals or scats. they will be able to provide you with other places and numbers to reach out to if they cannot help
