What is the logic for ranking TCU ahead of Boise State?

Question by b m: What is the logic for ranking TCU ahead of Boise State?
I’m not picking sides. It seems to me that you can make equally good arguments that either team should be ahead of the other in the rankings. Specifically, Boise State has a win against by far the best team either played (Oregon), while TCU probably has the harder overall schedule and might be prettier statistically.

  1. Cody (Gators 12-0)

TCU had far more consistant competition and beat them by far larger margins than Boise St who had to hold on against LA Tech, that in my opinion puts the frogs ahead of the Broncos as well

  2. RIVERKID Roll Tide!

    maybe who they’ve played? ——————-

  3. Dallas Mavericks 14-7

TCU faced many ranked opponents and they beat them by more points and Boise State only played one ranked team Oregon

  4. Cowboys Realist (Lets Go Mavs)

you could argue that Boise St. would jump TCU if they had beat Oregon within the last few weeks, but since that game was so long ago it doesnt really help. like you said, TCU had the overall harder schedule.

  5. I think your second point is why most of the nation thinks the Frog are better than the Broncos. They played a tougher overall schedule, while Boise State played a very unorganized version of the Oregon team that’s so good now.

  6. probably what TCU did to BYU in Provo.

    Their is no logic…………

  8. ANSWER SAURUS

TCU has more high-profile wins in a tougher conference.

  9. I don’t think either team is really a top tier team,as my other answers show. But of the two,TCU has a slightly more difficult strength of schedule.Neither school has played a particularly difficult schedule and doesn’t play in a premier conference.
You list the Boise State win over Oregon as being against the best team either has played.Probably true. But look at the rest of their schedule. There isn’t a team on it that is in the top 25(other than Oregon).TCU played 2 teams that were ranked 16th at the time.So I suppose would be the biggest difference.
But is either school a top 10,or even top 5 school? No,seriously. They have no business in the BCS championship talks.

  10. i know! they are 26-0 in the last 2 years, without bowl games. i dont believe they should go to the top, but still, thats hard to do for any team!
