Question by : If the only two unbeaten teams in college football are LSU and Boise State should Boise be given title bid?
In my opinion, I don’t think Boise has earned a spot in the Title Game because of the mostly mediocre teams they play and it should be an LSU, Bama rematch. I believe Bama should still be number 2.

Most people do not want a rematch. Although I’m not sure why. In every other sport it’s perfectly fine for the two best teams to meet in the regular season and in a championship game. Then by the same token, college football is very much unlike every other sport in the way they choose their “champion”.
Nothing to talk about here though really. Oklahoma will “poll-vault” (pun intended) Alabama with a win over Oklahoma St.
Boise, to answer your question, has no shot. They are Fiesta Bowl bound.

Explain how a rematch is fair to LSU? So if Alabama beats LSU by the same score the second time, they deserve the national title? Alabama had their shot at the title, and they lost. Simple.
Under no circumstance could I see it being fair that Alabama plays LSU for the title. I would rather see a 1 loss Boise get their shot than Alabama. In all likely hood in that scenario, LSU would kill BSU and win the title, as they deserve, because they beat Bama at their house. Think of it like this, the championship game was played on Nov. 5th, and Bama lost. Now if LSU goes on to lose in the championship game to some other team, then it means that team deserves the championship, not Bama.
The reason why people don’t like to see rematches in college football is simple, there are 119 division 1 teams. Teams can’t play everyone, or most everyone, just a fraction. There are plenty of other teams that deserve a shot. If you are old enough to remember 2006, it looked going into the bowl games that the two best teams were Ohio State and Michigan. At that point, both teams had won titles in the previous ten years, both teams were undefeated going into their matchup at the end of the year that was decided by less than a touchdown. Ohio State had beaten the previous years champion, Texas. Michigan had beaten Wisconsin, who only lost 1 game, and went on to beat SEC division winner Arkansas. Both teams beat Penn State, who was ranked and beat Tennessee in their bowl game. At that point, the two teams were clearly the two best teams in the country, then they both proceeded to get blown out in their bowl games.
And before you start yapping about SEC domination, just remember in 2006 the SEC wasn’t seen as the premier conference. Auburn lost to USC a few years earlier 23-0, with Jason Campbell, Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams. Arkansas that year went 7-1 in the SEC, and lost to USC, at home, 50-14. It wasn’t that long ago, at that point, that people still remembered Florida and Tennessee getting humiliated in national championship games by a combined 80 points or so.
Boise doesn’t deserve to be in the top ten with the powder puff schedule and conference they play in. LSU and Bama are the two best teams in the land hands down. The best two teams should be in the title game no matter if they have already played or not….
Boise State‘s team is vastly UNDERRATED yes I said underrated because of the reason you just said.
They play crappy teams but because of that nobody really knows how good they are in fact I think Boise could hang with LSU and Alabama.
I’m so sick of Boise State. I say GIVE them their damn title match. If they lose by three possessions or worse, I never want to see them in the Top 25 again. They can’t ever climb higher than 15th in the polls, where Houston is right about now.
I think that most people would rather see a one loss team in the Championship Game over an undefeated Boise State. However, most people don’t want to see a rematch. If the only undefeated teams besides Houston are LSU & Boise State, then I think a one loss Oklahoma would play in the Championship Game.
What if Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State, but somehow loses another game and ends up with two losses. I think in that situation, things would be so confusing and there would be so much controversy, that Boise State would probably play in the Championship game by default. A consensus would not be reached on who should play LSU and so people will throw up their hands and say, “What the hell. Let’s go ahead and give Boise State their shot”.
They would probably lose to LSU by 40 points and all this Boise State talk will finally come to an end.
Not going to happen….
I sit on both sides of the fence on this issue. I agree with Bama Andy’s assertion that LSU and Bama ARE the two best teams in the country and should play again for the NC. However, I also agree with Al Gore’s Mistress that Bama had its chance, AT HOME, to beat LSU and didn’t and that it’s not fair that LSU should have to play Bama again. However, IMO, Boise does not deserve to go to the NC game because of their schedule weaknesses. With that being said, as an LSU fan, I’d rather play Boise for the sure win than play Bama again for the possible win.
Alabama already used their chance. They failed.
Sorry Losers
A rematch wouldn’t be fair to LSU. Plus I just don’t want to see the same game again. I say let Boise State get a shot, let LSU mop the floor with them, shut them up and send them packing. There’s just no way they can hang with the big boys.
