There is no AFB in Boise, Idaho. Perhaps you mean Mountain Home.

Air Force personnel tend to move every 3-4 years so if you have not heard from him in 3-4 years he may have moved to another base. In that case you might have a hard time tracking him down.

What do you think? Answer below!

  1. He might be out of the AF now or change duty locations.

Have you done a yahoo persons search? Facebook, myspace?

    http://www.military.com/ use the buddy finder.

  2. if you have his social security number and his last known location you can do an American Red Cross Welfare check.. the ARC will track him down and then let him know that someone is looking for him. they will NOT tell you where he is nor will anyone make him contact you however.

  3. Hello Kay,

Sure you can find your Uncle if he is still on active duty or retired.

    Procedure.

Write a letter to him. Put it into an envelope unsealed and stamped. Make sure your return address is clearly posted. Put his name only on the address part of the envelope. The Air Force will put his mailing address on the envelop for you.

Mail it to the Air Force Locator Service:

    Unofficial Request
All unofficial requests must be in writing and fees may not be applicable.

Your request should state who you are looking for, your name, address and telephone number.

Put this information in an unsealed envelope with a return address, proper postage affixed and the individual’s name in the addressee portion of the envelope.

Place this envelope in a larger envelope with your check or money order for $ 3.50 made payable to DAO-DE RAFB and mail to the locator address at HQ AFPC/DPDXIDL, 550 C St West Ste 50 Randolph AFB, TX 78150-4752.

Your request constitutes consent to release of this information to the member.

There is only 1 Air Force base in Idaho. It is Mountain Home AFB, 10 miles west of Mountain Home and 50 miles southeast of Boise, Idaho.

Here is Mountain Home AFB’s webpage.
    http://www.mountainhome.af.mil/

You might call direct first to the base and ask to be connected to the unit that your uncle is assigned to. Speak with his First Sergeant and identify yourself. He will probably ask you for your name, address, phone number and either do one of two things: He will put you on hold and call up your uncle and ask him if he has a niece of your name; or, he will give your information to your uncle and ask him to contact you. Probably the second choice if your uncle is on the job and can’t break away.

If you can’t get into your Uncle’s unit by phone, then, send the check for $ 3.50 and the letter to the Worldwide Base Locator and wait for your uncle to contact you.

Check out the base webpage. You may see a photo of your uncle posted there! There is a PHOTOS pulldown, click on PEOPLE. There are 264 photos on display.

P.S. With sadness Master Sgt. Richard Caron passed away on July 4th. He was a member of the 366th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Mountain Home.

  4. Hi there,

The two bases you would check are Mountain Home AFB in Mountain Home (about an hour from here), and Gowen Field right here in Boise, which is sort of a hybrid base for all branches. Both have their own websites, and could help you with finding out a forwarding address of some sort.

    http://www.idahoarmyguard.org/GowenField/GowenField.asp

I know it says Gowen is Army, but all branches of reserves and NG serve there.
