Question by tom: Is systema effective?
I am part Russia and was looking for a fighting style to take up for leisure, I looked at Sambo and thought it was a lot like Wrestling and well, kinda gay lol.
Then I found Systema and watched a couple videos, the instructors were like 60 year old guys and I litereally lol’d at the videos because one fought with an umbrella and the other with his belt (in addition to some sick unarmed stuff)
So yeah I’ve decided to take it up leisurely, would that be possible to do? I can’t afford an instructor and anyways I don’t think there would be any where I live (Boise, Idaho)
I’m also a smaller guy (5’7 about 135) and it seemed to be perfect for a little guy.
So to summarize if you’ve tried it how have you liked it and would it be possible to kinda self teach? I’m thinking about self teaching for 6 mos. – 2 yrs then get lessons for like a month or two to correct what im doing wrong, could that work?

it doesn’t matter what you take……..and dont do the 2 year thing and that corrective other months bullshit……if you cant find any dojos anywhere, just research some stuff online and in books to learn some basic moves
and its best to learn from a professional and in person rather than some dude of a video
