Do you believe that this year that the BCS will give Boise State a shot to play in National Title?

Question by : Do you believe that this year that the BCS will give Boise State a shot to play in National Title?
I think if Boise State runs the table and there is only one undefeated team, I believe that Boise State is going to play in the National Title.

I think that the BCS would do that to end the controversy that they only favor teams who play from big conferences.

Well, see the problem isn’t favoring it’s strength of schedule, Boise state plays in a TERRIBLE conference, so maybe but doubtful.

  1. I wouldn’t put money on it. The only way Boise State makes the BCS title game is if they run the table and they are the ONLY undefeated team in the top 5. Even then, that might not be enough. As far as the BCS is concerned, they could care less what you or I think. If the NCAA really wanted to end the controversy, they would determine their champions through a playoff system. The BCS is never intended on determining a true national champion in division I college football. The BCS only exist to maintain the inequitable distribution of revenues generated by the NCAA through television contracts to the BCS conferences over the non-BCS conferences.

  2. Probley because of the conference they in and the lack of strength schedule.

  3. Maybe, they made Gawja look bad, but I’m not as convinced as most as to the omnipitence of the SEC. Time will tell, maybe Gawja just sucks.

  4. The BCS has a monopoly on “post season” FBS football. They care little about actually putting the 2 best teams out to play and just want tv ratings and sponsorship money.

So no, they would never allow an underdog program to play in the “championship” game because one, they don’t want a big upset and two, they only want schools that can get the type of sponsorships, tv ratings and a certain number of fans that will travel to the games.

  5. No & hopefully not. They play a soft schedule this year, as usual. Their win over Georgia doesn’t prove anything because Georgia is not one of the elite teams in the SEC. Georgia will do good to finish 3 or 4th in the SEC East.

  6. ? Out With A Bang ?

If they go undefeated they will have a good shot.

  7. Based on the strength of their schedule? No.

  8. IF BSU is the ONLY undefeated team, then yes, I believe they will play in the BCS title game.

Do they deserve to be in it? NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

When you play in a conference of third tier teams (save for TCU – who dropped their pants on Friday night) and win all of your conference games, that is what is expected of you.
When you play MAYBE ONE tough game out of conference every year you have ALL of the Spring, off-season and Fall camp to prepare for it, as coaches and players, so STOP acting as if BSU is a top tier team.
Put them in a REAL conference, with 6-8 tough teams, and see how they cope with constant injuries, losing key players for parts of games, weeks or even the season AND having to prepare for the NEXT team each week, rather than the team they play 5 weeks from now…

Georgia – LOW top tier team – MAYBE
    Toledo – 3rd tier
    Tulsa – ??? REALLY ???
Nevada – 3rd – even though they beat BSU last year !!!
    Fresno St. – 3rd
    CSU – 3rd
    Air Force – 3rd
    UNLV – LOW 3rd
TCU – LOW top tier especially after Friday….BAYLOR ?!?!?! Same boat as BSU
    SDSU – low 3rd
    Wyoming – ??? C’MON !?!?!
New Mexico – If Brian Urlacher could go play for them I would move them to the 3rd tier

So, with that “gauntlet” of a schedule I see BSU having MAYBE ONE tough game left, TCU, so please don’t act as if BSU is one of the best teams in the country if they go undefeated.
They don’t have to deal with (as many) injuries to key players, be they nagging ankles, knees etc., or game/season ending ones.
Also, they don’t have to deal with preparing for their next tough opponent – they can prepare for TCU at LEAST one day a week in practice every week from now up until they play them, they don’t have to prepare for Tulsa, UNLV or FSU EVERY day, so they get a TON of extra practice time in for TCU.

  9. Follow the money

Boise State has to have everything work out for it to be considered. Even if they win out and the SEC has a single loss team I think if would be considered before BSU.

  10. Blibityblabity

As usual, they have a shot, but need some things to work in their favor. No undefeated teams in a BCS conference, and Georgia to go 10-2 or better. If that happens, they have a good shot. Of course they need to run the table, too.

If it’s a crazy season like 2007, I think this is the year. In the 60s and 70s, everyone said Penn State couldn’t play with the big dogs. It took a goal line stand by Alabama in a championship year to beat them, and then people realized Penn State was the real deal. Boise State is facing the same thing. Non BCS schools have beat a 1 loss Alabama team, a 1 or 2 loss Oklahoma team in bowl games, and BSU beat a very good Virginia Tech team last season and a Rose Bowl Oregon team the year before during the regular season. Eventually, people will realize that Boise State is a real good football team.

To be honest, unless TCU can do very well in the MWC, the rest of the MWC steps up and Georgia wins out, Boise State had a better chance last year than this year. I know it’s a little too early to say right now, but the BCS buster spot is expecting Boise State at the moment. Plus, the BCS is good at finding excuses.

  12. I agree. If the BCS was smart and BSU did run the table, they should put them in. Let them prove themselves. It could also make a great story if it were vs. Oklahoma, and its Kellen Moore’s senior season
