Question by ap: What are the best Pet Friendly college areas in the Western US?
I am seriously considering relocating next school year (2011-2012) from Boise State University. I have a golden retriever, a siamese cat and am having a hard time finding areas in the West that have reasonable Pet Friendly rentals close to campus. I am looking into the Oregon Coast (mainly Eugene area), Seattle, Humboldt Co. CA and possibly Denver. My family is located in Boise, ID so I would like to stay 500-1000 miles of Boise. Thanks!

Denver and Ft Collins have several colleges that are decent. They also have tons and TONS of animal friendly apartments. Check out craigslist, though – you can often get a decent duplex or even a house with a yard for the same cost as an apartment. Denver has a pretty decent mass transit system as well. Because of the vet school in Ft Collins, Denver and Ft Collins have tons of vets, so it’s a buyer’s market there as well
What do you think? Answer below!

University of Nevada, Reno! It’s a much better school than people think, and Reno’s a pretty liberal town all things considered. There are a lot of affordable places that allow animals; if you do look however, skip over the Highlands (none allowed, unless you don’t mind rule-breaking) and Wolf Run (cats only).
