Does Ball St refusal to take on Boise St in a bowl game prove that the MAC isn’t a real conference?

Question by 2 Old 2 RocknRoll, 2 Jung 2 Die: Does Ball St refusal to take on Boise St in a bowl game prove that the MAC isn’t a real conference?

Blibity – good point, but one problem with your example. UCLA’s home field back in 1975 wasn’t the Rose Bowl. ~DOH

  1. its to far away =’( once they get killed they will blame the time change or something

  2. well there is two views. Your view is the first view. The other view is the smart view or the cowardly way. They want to be undefeated after the bowl game and the odds are Boise State winning in their HOME TURF in the Humanatarian Bowl and they want more recruits to sterngthen their base as a 13-0 looks better than a 12-1 on paper. the MAC has only two so-so teams and ball State, yes they are weak, but they miss out chances to porve themselves

It shows the coach has no REAL confidence in his team, I would take a maybe win in a great game than a lesser bowl possible loss anyday.

  4. It’s pretty stupid. That would actually have been a good game!!! Instead, they wanted to stay within their own conference, and didn’t want to run the risk of being embarrassed.

  5. they are scared to play a better team they can came play us mountaineers we would be happy to kick there a$ $

Why would you want to play in a team’s bowl game? That is ridiculous. If you don’t think home field advantage matters, let me tell you a little story. Back in 1975, Ohio State was on a roll, and had one of the best college teams of all time. They beat UCLA 42-21 or something like that in the regular season. Then the rose bowl came, and OSU lost. My point is, going to play a team at home makes a huge difference. The opposing players get to sleep in their own beds, and more importantly, it’s just another game.

I would have liked to see the match up, in a place like Dallas or something.

It’s still in LA. The stadium is less important than the beds they sleep in, the facilities they practice in, and so on. The MAC 7th place team beat a ranked Pitt team, and a terrible OU team gave Ohio State all they could handle. Why would you reward your kids for the best season in school history with a trip to boise. At least a Detroit game the fans can drive to.

It proves that people are intelligent enough to not spend christmas break in Boise.

  8. wait…how could ball state refuse to play Boise State when Ball State still needs to play the MAC Championship game this Saturday??? What bowl would they play in? The motor city bowl? the international bowl?

EDIT: Buffalo 42 Ball State 24. Does Boise State still want to play them? I think not!!!! Did Ball State want to go to Boise and play a bowl game, NO! Did Ball State look past Buffalo, YES!!! Ball State should have finished their season, BEFORE declining bowl invitations.

  9. No, it just proves that Ball State is chicken shiit!
